CUMBERLAND United coach Nick Pantsaras said he's continually riding a roller coaster after his side thumped Raiders 3-0 at Bailey Reserve on Saturday. Pantsaras revealed he was at his wit's end just a week before when the Foxes were belted 5-0 by a relentless Campbelltown City at home. ``In all my experience as a coach I've never been on a roller coaster like this one,'' Pantsaras said. ``But we've got such a young side and it's expected. ``We fielded a lot of teenagers against Raiders and we've got some exciting players coming through the ranks and for the future of Cumberland.'' Pantsaras sang the praises of his teenage brigade with Alo Dulabek, 18, Daniel Carter, 16, goalkeeper Carl Robinson, 17 all having a hand in the Foxes' impressive win at the weekend. ``Dulabek last year won the Under-19 player of the year in the state league for Cobras,''' Pantsaras said. ``Carter is coming along nicely from SASI and Carl Robinson has done a great job for us in goal. ``He's improved so much under the guidance of Charley Horvath who is giving him extra goalkeeper training on Monday nights.'' Pantsaras said the floodgates opened up for the fledgling club when Raiders keeper Robert Matosevic was red-carded in the first half. ``It certainly helped us along,'' Pantsaras said. ``But this week we're playing Enfield City on Saturday for the Errea Cup instead of the Federation Cup. ``Then we've got Adelaide City on Monday week (May 27). ``It's going to be a good test for us.'' Pantsaras has been juggling his business commitments at Zoe's Restaurant, Hyde Park and his rigid training schedule at the Foxes. ``It's harder than I thought,'' Pantsaras said. ``I'm running the restaurant but I'm lucky that my brother in law Mars Capasso is the assistant coach at Cumberland. ``He's helped me out and Cumberland is such an understanding club too. ``Everybody wants to chip in and help.'' Brenton MacDonald scored a brace for Cumberland and Greg Hagias completed a happy afternoon's work for the home side. |

Game to be replayed. VICTORY ROBBED FROM JETS AT LAST MINUTE Last night saw the long awaited rematch of the Round 7 BEST League match between Modbury Jets and White City Woodville at Jet Park and the match was certainly worth the wait with plenty of action and excitement. The match started with White City having the better of the play and they created the first real opportunity where a good cross found a team mate’s flick which hit the cross bar and was cleared to safety. Unfortunately new Jets’ forward Sam Fancombe was forced off with injury but the Jets responded positively and created some problems for the White City defence and after a free kick going just over the cross bar from Aaron Westervelt Modbury earned another free kick and from Westervelt again took it beautifully and it was saved by White City goal keeper Nick Crossley but it fell to the feet of Damian Harley who put it into the net giving Modbury the lead at 24 minutes. A golden chance fell to the Jets not too long afterwards with a great run from Konrad Kosnik before he offloaded to Leigh Ramsden who shot the ball too high, but the Modbury team was playing the better football until half time where it remained 1 – 0. The second half found Modbury starting off the better team with a good run from Ramsden but Crossley managed to take the ball. The match then became an end to end contest until a White City attack saw the ball somehow kept in play and crossed into the penalty area where former Modbury player Rob Saraceno was able to equal the scores at the 64th minute. Modbury again took back control, but could not beat Crossley in goal until a clever lob from Louie Brain managed to find the net at the 82nd minute and the Jets looked like getting a deserved victory until a goalmouth scramble in the 90th minute somehow found Saraceno who managed to get the ball in making it 2 - 2.
